Rustic Farmhouse Living Room

The client wanted a casual, comfortable, yet uncluttered Family Room for her and her children. She wanted a sectional for seating facing the TV, but the room was small and many open passageways. The rustic character and warmth of the house was what drew her to it, but it also felt very dark despite the large bay window that looked out onto the street.

To maximize the Family Room space, a three-cushion, apartment-scaled sofa is now facing the TV. A stylish ottoman provides the versatility of a foot rest, storage and a table top. To keep the environment light, lighter fabrics cover the upholstery and a table lamp gives off light from the corner. Traversing drapery sheers give privacy without shutting out the light and frame the beautiful bay window. The pedestal-base table fits well between the sofa and chair where there is seating with the convenience of a surface to set your drink. Many curved shapes in both the case goods and the upholstery mimic the curve on the mantle detail. Texture plays a big role in continuing the rustic theme of the home and keeps things interesting, as does the splash of pattern in the wing chair.
