Organic Kitchen

This kitchen was cut off from the family room by the bulkhead above the island. A certified contractor was required to be sure the bulkhead could be removed. Additional lighting over the island was necessary if this overhang went away. The client wanted the kitchen to have a consistent open concept to the family room. The ledge above the cabinets was awkward and needed some style..

In order to give the kitchen a more open feel to the family room, the bulkhead was removed above the island by a contractor. New wiring was put in place for the two ceiling chandeliers with bronze metal drum shades. The unattractive ledge above the kitchen cabinet wall was planned to create an art wall. This was done by hanging woven baskets strategically placed on the wall, and adding a set of ceramic vases, as well as an oversized metal and rattan woven basket. An etched crystal vase with sunflowers add a bit of whimsy to meet the client’s personality. Natural finishes throughout the kitchen and family room were coordinated to meet the client’s style.
