Oak Ridge is a city located in Anderson and Roane counties in Tennessee. Situated about 25 miles west of Knoxville, Oak Ridge has a population of 29,330. In 1942, the city was established as a production site for the Manhattan Project – the massive American, British, and Canadian operation that developed the atomic bomb.
