Sequoyah Hills is a neighborhood located between West Knoxville and the city’s downtown area. Sequoyah Hills was considered one of Knoxville’s first suburbs, containing numerous notable examples of mid-20th century residential architecture. The region was originally an agrarian land known as Looney’s Bend before it was more developed in the 1920s. The area is generally hilly, with a 10 to 15-foot bluff rising above the rivershore along most of the neighborhood’s southern edge.
