Custom Window Treatments

At Decorating Den Interiors – Kozar Design Team, we offer a wide variety of decorative soft window treatments from draperies, side panels, roman shades to top treatments such as cornices, and valances. We will come to your home or office and assist you in choosing from an extensive selection of drapery styles and an almost limitless collection of fabrics. The custom options coupled with the highest quality of fabrication make the perfect drapery for any window.

Drapery Panels

Classic and timeless. These are typically mounted high, to the crown molding and visually raises the height of your room. In more modern interiors, drapery panels are simply adorned, letting the texture or pattern of the fabric speak. In more traditional or bohemian styled spaces, drapery panels are often adorned with trim or utilize a combination of fabrics. You might hear us talk about traversing panels or stationary panels. Traversing Panels are designed to completely cover the window when closed, so function and beauty. However this isn’t always needed in a room, so often we’ll utilize stationary panels in combination with a treatment underneath. Either way, drapery panels are stunning in a room by themselves or when paired with any of the options below or hard window fashions like blinds and shutters. We always line and interline our drapery panels and valances for the highest quality. This extra step adds luxury and allows the fabric to drape perfectly.

Valances

These are a soft horizontal top treatment that is often hung right above your window trim as an outside mount or recessed inside your window as an inside mount. Most of the time these are board mounted at the top instead of rod mounted, but both are considered valances. This is often the perfect solution in kitchens and bathrooms, or any space where blackout is a priority. There are hundreds of ways to fabricate these from balloon valances, gathered, pleated, or clean box pleats, and pair nicely with drapery panels.

Cornices

These are similar to valances, but the fabric is upholstered around a wood base on 4 sides. This keeps the pattern firm and in place. There are many fun details these can have due to their thicker nature – nail heads, tufted, faux iron, or many more! This is a great solution for areas that need a bit more structure or spaces where you would not want to adjust the fabric. As with valances, cornices can be inside or outside mounted depending on the window.

Roman Shades

Whether flat, hobbled, or caned, roman shades are a beautiful and classic way to incorporate function and beauty to your window. These can now be cordless so with a simple lift you can go from maximum view to complete privacy. A fun detail we like to add to these are trim details along the base with a tassel or simply a scalloped hem. This roman shade is inside mounted inside the window frame, but these can also be designed as outside mount treatments. These are a favorite to use on doors.

Faux Iron

One of our favorite ways to add a touch of architectural emphasis is by incorporating a faux iron treatment into the design of your windows or niches. This is a composite wood material that is laser cut into any design that we have or can make to give the look of iron (or wood or even metal) into a room design. This design is then hand painted to achieve the color and finished appearance of iron. Screens can be added for additional light protection, and these designs can be beautiful both inside and out. The end result is always stunning and makes a statement.

Hunter Douglas and Hard Window Fashions

Hard window fashions is a broad category that can cover hard wood blinds, shutters, sheer shadings, roller shades, roller blinds, zebra or banded shades, cellular shades, vertical sheers, woven wood shades, and more. Each of these different product types provide a different solution for a variety of window concerns, such as sun protection, glare, energy efficiency, room darkening, and more. We are proud to offer clients a wide variety of top quality Hunter Douglas blinds, sheers, roman shades and more to fulfill those needs. You can learn more about each product here.

The possibilities are endless and we are here to help you every step of the way. We make it easy for you to visualize your new window treatments by drawing your new treatment right on top of your existing window. Once we have selected the right treatment for you, we take all the measurements, place the orders, and our talented fabricators will get to work to ensure that the designs are built to our specifications.
