Glamorous Bathroom

The homeowner had seen a powder room I designed for a local Symphony House charity project. She wanted to recreate the bathroom for her daughter, but personalize it to her daughter’s love of pink and glimmer! She also wanted to update the existing shower curtain, replace the vanity, fixtures, mirror and light. Sparkle needed to be added to the room to reflect her daughter’s personality. There was a lack of lighting in the tub area.

Concerns she had were as follows:

  • Vanity, fixtures and mirror were outdated.
  • There was an overall lack of lighting, especially in the tub area.
  • Create a custom shower curtain that would allow light into the tub area.
  • Personalize with color and finishes to reflect her daughter’s love of pink and glimmer.

The unique wall treatment was textured with a rose base, and then individual strands of “tinsel” were hand crafted into place. This set the tone for the room. The outdated vanity was replaced with a bow front vanity, with a rubbed silver finish, black granite top, porcelain sink and a faucet with crystal handles. A larger and glamorous etched mirror was used to balance the size of the larger vanity. A vanity light with more wattage was used. Not only did the light and the glimmer of hand-cut crystals add beauty, but added to the reflective light in the room. The shower curtain was custom made to hang on a ceiling mount track system. This allowed light to fill in the lack of lighting in the tub area. A whimsical “shoe” watercolor was used for accent, as well as crystal vases and bowls.
