Project Overview:

This client had a small condo in the mountains that she wanted to have furnished for when she went hiking. She also would like to host friends there when they travelled. The condo was currently empty and a completely blank canvas. She wanted it to feel a little bit like a cabin or a lodge, but she did not want it to be kitschy or too rustic, as that’s not her personal taste, which is more glam. She did want it to feel inviting and like a private getaway. The rooms were small and needed to use every inch.

This dining space combines a modern lodge look with a touch of glam. The bold statement chandelier combined deep black, bold brass, and mercury glass accents for a stunning anchor to this seating arrangement. The original chandelier was only 30″ from the wall, and could never have been centered about a dining table. When hanging the new chandelier, we placed it properly above the center of the table, and the end result made the space feel larger. Pieces were selected for maximum seating in a small space. With a combination of chairs and a bench seating for at 6-8 is provided in a rustic black finish with aged brass accents. The homeowner loves the local Appalachian mountains and trails, and requested photography of some of her favorite locations which are framed and placed in a column beside the back door. Clean and timeless roman shades adorn both the back door as well as the window above the sink for privacy and an additional layer of elegance. When the home owner needed help selecting new cabinet colors, we suggested White Dove for the upper cabinets, and Iron Mountain, both from Benjamin Moore. This two tone kitchen approach lets the kitchen feel larger and brings in more light reflection on top. The end result is a clean modern look that revitalized this condo kitchen.
