Project Overview:

This couple had recently purchased this lakeside home sight unseen. The home was beautiful and spacious, but they envisioned this home as their retirement home, and they wanted the transition to be done right. At the beginning of working with us, they already knew that they wanted to repaint it all, recarpet some areas, as well as refinish the floors. However, they also discovered that were some areas without overhead lighting, a lot of peculiar wall niches, and a few other changes they would like to have before officially moving in. They had a whole house of furniture back home, but after living with those furnishings for so long, they wanted a fresh start here. This couple has grandchildren and plans to have her father move in later, so selections needed to be durable, and comfortable, but the couple also wanted a bit of wow factor with an organic touch. This breakfast nook is small and attached to the kitchen and family room.

This warm organic eating space features custom faux iron window treatments paired with Hunter Douglas Parkland blinds, a glass top dining table, four castered rattan chairs in a performance fabric, and a mosaic patterned wool rug. This small space is tucked perfectly between the kitchen and the family room and with such easy access to both spaces, has quickly become the center of this home. Plus it is a perfect spot for the homeowner’s morning coffee. We replaced the chandelier from before to one that was lighter and brighter with a drum shade accented with bright gold to give additional lighting to the space. The area also has matching counter stools that wrap the peninsula of the kitchen.
