Rustic Bohemian Playroom

A returning client moved to a larger home to support their growing family. As a mother of two kids this play space would be an important space as a family to interact and learn. Moves however can be confusing for small ones, and in an effort to make the change as easy as possible for them the home owner requested to have it feel similar to the playroom we designed for them previously. This room needed to service as an art space, reading space, toy storage, and tv entertainment and gaming consoles. The new room was large but also included multiple doorways that limits the amount of useable space in favor of walkways

We went with a rustic bohemian aesthetic using soft tranquil colors overall with pops of bright accents in the art and toys. Utilizing furniture with a more rustic and worn appeal gives this space the versatility for the children to be as they are without worry of damaging the pieces. Storage was key for this space to remain tidy and low maintenance so the focal wall of the space features three wooden cube units, one taller piece for each child, and a matching low bench. Bright happy pillows are placed underneath a quirky camel photo with cork boards to frame and display the children’s ever growing art collection. The reading nook features two matching floral wing chairs with a reclaimed wood and iron table. Underfoot is a soft as a cloud sheepskin rug, or flokati, with burlap poufs and a world globe pouf. Next up was the entertainment section, a soft ivory sofa in performance fabric has soft aqua pillows and an embroidered swallow pillow to bring a touch of color and fun. The coffee table uses painted wood in a variety of bold sea colors with an additional shelf for storage. The tv sits upon a farmhouse inspired black media with glass doors to house the components. The room is styled for easy care, maximum storage, and versatility as the children grow into new interests, while feeling comfortable and inviting for the adults to share the space as well.
