Serene & Elegant Bedroom

This couple was still using their first bedroom suite from college, and they wanted a serene refresh to match their lifestyle now. The master suite felt dark and cluttered during the day, but in the morning, the light flooded the space with a harsh glare. The home owners also wanted a place to retreat and quietly read or watch tv away from the main rooms in the home.

A soft and serene color palette of soft ivory, creams, and taupe was selected to give a calming and classic appearance to the master bedroom. A touch of glam and sparkle fills the room with the selection of custom fabrics in silks, satin, and velvets. The selected upholstered wing bed gives a defining anchor to the center of the room, and makes for a stunning focal point with the layered custom bedding. Flanking the bed are two mirrored and reclaimed wood nightstands, with matching capiz shell lamps, blending together the medley of neutrals. The tv is parallel to the bed and is mounted above a matching reclaimed wood entertainment center with large star accent hardware. The solution for reading was a custom designed and built tete-a-tete transformed to be a bench with an open center. This allows the couple to share the seat while reading or watching tv, while not blocking the view. The harsh glare was solved by a combination of room-darkening Hunter Douglas Silhouettes upon each window and framed by traversing full length drapery panels in a rich mushroom colored satin with eyelash accents for a contemporary twist.
