Textural Organic Living Room
This client needed help with the final touches on her family room. By adding new custom window treatments, pillows, chests, lamps, and botanicals, (moss, ferns, and fiddle leaf fig trees) we transformed this room into a complete organic modern space that feels warm and inviting with a touch of drama.
The room had great pieces already, a fun wool rug with rich textures and the saddle brown leather sofas really made a strong statement with the black brick wall and geometric cognac stained wood fireplace. We started by tracking down the original fabrics and finishes used in the room and incorporating them into our vision. By repeating the drapery fabric used on the custom window treatments on the side panels we create new custom window treatments for the large sliding door to create a visual sandwich for the space. We added privacy and light filtration with Hunter Douglas Luminette Sheer Shadings. For the accent chairs we added lumbar pillows that included the accent color in the drapery fabrics, and added a larger pillow on the sofas to add more interest and balance. To tackle the void beside the black brick fireplace we placed two black chests edge to edge to give the appearance of one long credenza, and moved her sunburst mirror over it. By moving her table lamps here with statement accessories we were able to make a statement that complemented the asymmetrical placement of the fireplace instead of fight it. To add an organic element to the space, we selected two 7′ tall fiddle leaf figs to anchor both sides of the large sliding glass doors and continue a bit of green throughout the room. We added two Michelangelo Marble Table lamps to her sofa table transformed this room into a complete organic modern space that feels warm and inviting with a touch of drama.
