Whimsical Traditional Kitchen

Client originally wanted an open-concept kitchen. Open to all rooms, including the entry, dining, and living room. She was unsure about the layout the cabinet maker had given her. She also wanted a sitting area in the kitchen to be used mostly for relaxing, guests to sit and talk to her as she cooked, and a place for her grandchildren to gather. The client loved birds! The lighting would also need to be updated.

The cabinets in the kitchen layout and cabinets had already been selected. We made some changes to the shape of the island, as well as we keeping a wall to house the ovens. Originally the client wanted it all open, but it needed the wall to create some sort of division from the entry, dining room and family room. From there we helped with the finish selection of the wood cabinets and tile flooring, backsplash and countertop. The seating area began with the selection of the custom, embroidered bird pattern fabric on two stylized wing chairs. The round table with the ability to house a leaf if needed, and a round, flat-weave area rug created just the special nook she was asking for. The custom pole-mounted pick-up window treatments in a small buffalo check and the custom antique gold hardware with bird brackets are created to stand out. Two custom, swivel counter stools are the perfect place for the grandchildren to watch grandma cook!
Two bronze pendant chandeliers flank the island, and a bronze beaded chandelier of similar shape and style was added above the table in the seating area.
