Glamorous Lodge Family Room

We brightened their dark wooden lodge home with SW 6098 Pacer White and incorporated the client’s existing furniture with new pieces to create this transitional family room. With a new floral crystal chandelier, hand knotted wool rug, and custom faux silk window treatments, this family room feels glamorous and elegant.

Project Overview:

This recently purchased home was dark with beautiful woodwork and architectural details. The mountain lodge feeling that it had did not match the client’s light and bright aesthetic. Additionally, there were many pieces from their Florida home that they wanted to incorporate that were not working with the existing color palette, but they really liked the character of the wood in the home. Since we had worked with this couple on two of their previous summer homes, they knew that we could help them combine the warmth of the architecture with their brighter style. This client already had two stressless recliners that they love, as well as a leather reclining sofa, but they needed help putting that together in their new space. When they bought the home the previous owner had an animal head above the fireplace, which the husband loved the idea of, but not so much the wife. After moving in, the husband bought a buck that he named “Walter” that he would love in the room, but she didn’t want it over the fireplace. Our goal was to make both of them happy.

Four beautiful panels of faux silk window treatments with beaded tassels, are lined and interlined to enhance the view of the golf course. These panels are in a soft watery faux silk that pulls from the wool rug and the nearby art on the fireplace. The color and texture of the fabric is enhanced by silk thread wrapped beads that adorn the leading edge of the draperies. The custom finish metal rods are in a burnished silver that contrasts with the dark color of the stained wood trim.

The wool rug was selected to incorporate a variety of watery hues and to add movement to the space. A large hand painted piece of art was selected for above the fireplace to suit the tall ceilings and to anchor “Walter” the taxidermy statue on the wall facing the fireplace. This let both the husband and wife be happy in their new family room.
