Project Overview:

This recently purchased home was dark with beautiful woodwork and architectural details. The mountain lodge feeling that it had did not match the client’s light and bright aesthetic. Additionally, there were many pieces from their Florida home that they wanted to incorporate that wasn’t working with the existing color palette, but they really liked the character of the wood in the home. Since we had worked with this couple on two of their previous summer homes, they knew that we could help them combine the warmth of the architecture with their brighter style.

We brightened their dark wooden lodge home with SW 6098 Pacer White and incorporated creamy classic furniture to create this transitional dining room. By adding a new silver chandelier with coordinating pendant lights, a hand knotted round wool rug, and custom floral window treatments with woodland animals and hardware with birds, this dining room feels cozy and elegant. For this room we opted for a cotton fabric woodland motif. It features a soft palette of gray, beige, white, aqua, and moss with deer, rabbits, foxes, and birds. To repeat this theme, we opted for birds adorning the custom burnished silver hardware above. We placed them so they were symmetrically placed, with a pair in the middle as if in conversation. These custom window treatments wrap around the two corners for a continuous look that makes this dining room feel cozy yet elegant. The new dining table and chairs were selected to have a rustic character to them with a strong wire brush detail on the wood but remained clean and finish to blend in with the more elegant pieces also in the open space. The chairs feature a neutral performance fabric for everyday use and peace of mind. The wool rug was selected to coordinate with the living room rug and features watery colors of aqua, beige, ivory, and soft moss in an abstract painted style.
