Modern Craftsman Family Room

This client wanted a modern craftsman home with rustic touches that felt timeless. We divided the long and narrow family room into two, a tv viewing area, and a conversation area in the sunroom. We used Keystone Gray SW7504 as the trim with Agreeable Gray SW 7029 for the walls.

Project Overview:

This client was building this home from scratch and was overwhelmed with all of the options and selections involved in building your home. She knew what she wanted, the only problem was she liked too many things, and she wanted to make sure that the final home was consistent throughout and would accommodate her and her husband as he aged through his Parkinson’s diagnosis. As such the layout and space needed to be wide open, and accessible from standing, and potentially sitting in a wheelchair later on. She wanted the home to have a cozy rustic flair, but be bright, and not overly distressed. This family room was long and skinny, and the homeowner wanted ample seating for entertaining other couples and family. She also wanted the space to feel open and have easily navigated spaces.

This client wanted a modern craftsman home with rustic touches that felt timeless. We divided the long and narrow space into two “rooms”, a family tv viewing area, and a conversation area in the sunroom portion of the room. This allows for easy entertaining and captures the views of the lake and woods that the clients have. We selected two custom performance linen-colored loveseats with a pair of floral chairs in front of the fireplace. For this area we also added two storage ottomans in a coral dot fabric that can store blankets and extra pillows. In the sunroom portion, we selected 4 tall back modern wing styled swivel chairs to maximize the height of the room and centered them on a square coffee table in a breadboard wire brushed finish. For the paint colors, we opted to have the trim be darker for a warmer appearance in the space that let the home be light and bright without feeling stark white. Keystone Gray SW7504 as selected as the trim with Agreeable Gray SW 7029 as the wall color.
