Project Overview:

le had recently purchased this lakeside home sight unseen. The home was beautiful and spacious, but they envisioned this home as their retirement home, and they wanted the transition to be done right. At the beginning of working with us, they already knew that they wanted to repaint it all, recarpet some areas, as well as refinish the floors. However, they also discovered that were some areas without overhead lighting, a lot of peculiar wall niches, and a few other changes they would like to have before officially moving in. They had a whole house of furniture back home, but after living with those furnishings for so long, they wanted a fresh start here. This couple has grandchildren and plans to have her father move in later, so selections needed to be durable, and comfortable, but the couple also wanted a bit of wow factor with an organic touch. This dining space was a large space that the previous homeowners had as their formal living room as well as their dining room, and felt cramped.

This glamourous organic dining room features high contrast dark wire brushed finishes, hand painted faux horn, travertine, and bright gold accented with coral clay, cream, and soft gray. This dining room features a show stopping table and chairs but also a wine and bar cabinet with storage for up to 60 wine bottles, buffet with travertine top, and foyer seating area. The luxurious coral clay window treatments add texture and soft color, and are enhanced by the contrasting black and gold drapery hardware that match the light fixtures. This dining room previously had no hardwired lighting, so our design added two statement globe chandeliers above the dining table, a flush mount lotus shaped fixture above the front door, two leaf sconces flanking the art, and two additional Capiz shell sconces by the faux horn mirror. The lighting spaced throughout gives the room a warm glow, and with the use of dimmer switches can go from romantic to fully light quickly. The rugs underfoot continue the organic theme of the space with patterns inspired by marble. The artwork is light and airy and allows for their large scale to not overwhelm the space with their size. Upon closer inspection, the suspended glass crystals capture and bounce light across the piece. The cut outs that this space had previously, were filled in and painted new color Elmira White from Benjamin Moore. The end result made the space feel much larger since fewer accessories would be needed, while also allowing larger wall art, and thus a bigger impact on the space.
