Dining rooms can be the heart of the home. With the holidays on the horizon and family coming in to visit, this room becomes top of mind once again, but what if it was used year round? Research shows that dining in this space encourages conversation and family connection versus more open spaces that include screens and devices. It also promotes slower eating, allowing everyone to relax, and enjoy their food more. Here are some of our questions we ask our clients when they are reclaiming their dining spaces.
- Is it Comfortable? – Comfortable yet stylish seating is a great way to encourage longer time together. When we test chairs at market, we rate chairs as 15 minutes and 3+ hour chairs. What would you rate your chairs at?
- Is it too Formal? – Does the dining room match your current lifestyle? Is it too formal or fussy? Though you might still love your formal china, perhaps the piece that houses the china can have a more casual or lighter finish to it, and the table and chairs that match it. In lieu of china cabinets, some of our clients are adding library elements or displaying their collections into their dining room.
- Is it Cleanable? – Are you worried your family isn’t clean enough for the dining room? Never fear, with performance fabrics and quality construction you can enjoy the space and have peace of mind to use it for years to come.
- Is it too Big? – Do you feel awkward sitting in your dining room when it’s just two or three of you, but you’d still like to host large parties? We offer convertible dining options that can be perfect for 2-4 during most of the year, that can expand to 8-12 during the holidays. This helps our clients use the space year round.
